I am an avid user of Europcar.ie and have always been a big fan of their exceptional service. However, my recent experience at Shannon last Friday was far from satisfactory. Despite booking in advance, I was informed at the Shannon desk that I would need to take a shuttle to their off-site office. As someone accustomed to a seamless experience of picking up the keys and walking a short distance to access my Europcar, this deviation from the norm was disappointing. What made matters worse was the lack of any form of apology from the staff at the Shannon desk, leaving a bitter taste in my mouth. To add to the frustration, there was an attempt to enforce a questionable credit card policy, pressuring customers to pay €1500 on their credit card. Fortunately, I had purchased extra insurance online to counter this, but it raised the concern of the treatment of customers who may not possess a credit card.
