My heartfelt experience at The Railway in Buxton will always hold a special place in my heart. On a leisurely afternoon, my visit with my dear mother and my 17-year-old son, who is on the autism spectrum, was an opportunity for some much-needed family time. As we entered the charming pub, I eagerly awaited at the bar, hoping to place our order. Despite the slight delay, the ambiance was welcoming; however, the background noise from the barking dogs did create a bit of a challenge. After a gentle prompt, we were able to place our orders, including a pot of tea for my mother, whose love for a warm cuppa is always a delight to witness. Although there was a slight oversight with the tea service, the anticipation only added to our excitement. The wait for our meals was longer than expected, but my son’s satisfaction with his burger brought warmth to my heart. On the other hand, my steak baguette, while visually appealing, fell short of expectations. The tough texture and questionable taste left me a bit disheartened. Despite the hiccups with our meals, the crisp onion rings and satisfactory chips provided a silver lining to our dining experience. The persistent barking of the dogs did create a sensory overload for my son, highlighting the importance of a more calming environment for neurodiverse individuals like him. In hindsight, the absence of hand sanitizer and the lingering dog odor did detract from the overall ambiance of the pub. With a few improvements in addressing these issues and ensuring well-behaved canine patrons, The Railway has the potential to truly shine as a community gem. I recently visited Tavern On The Mill, Thornton Cleveleys Lancashire, and had a disappointing experience. Despite the 5-star reviews, my experience was far from satisfactory. We arrived late morning, hoping for a breakfast, only to realize that breakfasts were only available on Saturdays and Sundays. I overheard a customer requesting a toasted tea cake, only to be informed that it couldn't be accommodated. We settled for two Small Plates and two pots of tea. Sadly, the Small Plates were a letdown. The Garlic & Stilton Mushrooms were swimming in oil, and the Caesar Salad was a disappointment, with only Ice Gem Lettuce leaves and an extra topping of chicken that did not live up to the expectations of a Caesar Salad. Despite complaining, I was overcharged and felt like I had been taken advantage of. I must say that the manager did try to rectify the situation by refunding the cost of the Garlic & Stilton, but the overall experience left a lot to be desired. The lack of attention to detail, the overcharging, and the unsatisfactory quality of the food left a sour taste in my mouth. It’s important for me to share my honest opinion and experience. My recent stay at The Black Dog in Belmont Bolton was a disappointing experience, to say the least. After a long 7-hour journey, my friend and I arrived at 7 pm, only to be told that our room wasn't ready. The check-in process took longer than expected, and we finally got into our twin room at 8 pm. The initial impression of the room was mediocre, but it quickly went downhill from there. Over the three nights of our stay, our room was never serviced, and the overall cleanliness was subpar. The window sill was covered in black mold, and dust and dirt accumulated around the edges. Despite these issues, we chose to tolerate the conditions as our main purpose for the trip was visiting family. On a positive note, the food and drink at The Black Dog were satisfactory, providing some reprieve from the disappointing accommodation. However, the overall state of our room overshadowed our dining experience. In retrospect, I would have appreciated a higher standard of cleanliness and better maintenance of the rooms. It's disappointing to leave a place with such negative sentiments, especially after looking forward to a pleasant stay.
