AHS assigned Brick Street Plumbing as…
My review for ahs.com AHS assigned Brick Street Plumbing as our Service Pro to fix/replace our water heater who I contacted right away. They advised me to send pictures which they used in lieu of coming to the property to do an estimate. AHS sent an authorization email stating that $1402 was not covered under our contract. In reviewing our contract, it appears that All parts and components of the water heater unit including the tank, circulating pumps, missing valves and thermal expansion tanks ARE covered. In speaking to Brick Street Plumbing, they stated that AHS is covering the cost of the water heater itself and the cost of labor to install the tank. They wrote that AHS is not covering the cost of the code requirements; expansion tank , lead free ball valve, drain pan or the modifications and proceeded to send us the email with the invoice attached. I contacted AHS and they were unclear as to what the modifications and uncovered costs were and said if I was not satisfied I could ask for a cash in lieu of payment instead. I contacted Brick Street Plumbing by text and by voicemail to find a resolution and nobody contacted me back. They did not perform any of the repair services. I then contacted a local plumbing company who was able to complete the job the same day and stated once completed that it was a routine job with no modifications required. The cost was $1875 in total which leads me to believe that AHS was only willing to pay Brick Street Plumbing a nominal amount of labor fees, so they were inflating their fees to recoup what they were not willing to pay for. A quick internet search tells me that a replacement water heater costs approximately $700-$800 just for the tank not including the other necessary parts. AHS have offered me $454.37 as a cash in lieu payment. I would not be able to purchase a new water heater or pay labor costs for this amount even if I were to do the work myself. If Brick Street Plumbing was getting this same deal, they would not be in business for very long, so they have resorted to inflating their cost and charging the homeowner the money AHS was not willing to pay them. AHS has since asked me to provide documentation that I had a licensed plumber complete the work which I provided 3 times now. They told me the first two times that the invoice was insufficient so he rewrote it to have model numbers and his license number. I have not heard back. I will be cancelling my membership with AHS, it isn't worth the hassle! G
