Great disappointment!
As a pet owner looking for a pet-friendly accommodation, I was thrilled to find a listing in Stoke Fleming on Airbnb that met our needs. However, what was initially a promising prospect turned into a significant disappointment. Upon arrival, we were surprised to find white carpets in the bedrooms, which seemed impractical for a pet-friendly rental. Despite our efforts to maintain cleanliness by thoroughly vacuuming the carpets and keeping the main rooms immaculate, we were shocked to discover additional charges imposed by the owner. To our dismay, the owner accused us of leaving pet hair on the white carpets and even charged us an extra one hundred pounds for cleaning. What baffled us even more was the fact that we had diligently disposed of a cat food box in the recycling container before departure, yet we were penalized for this as well. What added insult to injury was the owner's explanation that the extra charges were necessary to hire a professional cleaner to address potential pet allergens for future guests. This reasoning seemed unreasonable, as one would assume that individuals with pet allergies would avoid booking a pet-friendly Airbnb property. Considering that we had already paid a cleaning fee in advance, the additional charges and the owner's response left us feeling frustrated and disillusioned with the entire experience. The fact that we had paid a substantial sum of £1500 for a six-night stay magnified our disappointment. Given the string of issues we encountered, we have no plans to return to this property, nor can we in good conscience recommend it to other guests, with or without pets. The lack of consideration for our efforts to maintain the property and the unexpected additional charges left a lasting negative impression, overshadowing any positive aspects of our stay. Overall, our experience at this Airbnb in Stoke Fleming was far from satisfactory, and we hope that our feedback prompts the owner to reconsider their approach and policies for the benefit of future guests. The company insisted on upfront payments before any substantial work had been done. Initially, I obliged, believing it to be a standard procedure, but as time passed, it became evident that this was a tactic to secure money without any intention of delivering genuine services. Customer Support Lacking Following the payment, my attempts to reach out to their customer support team with queries and concerns were met with silence. It became clear that the initial eagerness to assist me had vanished, leaving me feeling abandoned and disregarded. Fake Postings As if the lack of customer support wasn't enough, the job postings they claimed to have for my company were evidently fake. It was disheartening to realize that the positions they presented as potential matches were either non-existent or outdated, further solidifying the deceitful nature of their operations. Conclusion My experience with this company serves as a cautionary tale. The promising facade they present quickly dissolves to reveal a distressing reality characterized by unfulfilled promises and false representations. WARNING REGARDING MOBILE APP. – Airbnb
I had the most unfortunate experience with Airbnb that I wouldn't want anyone else to go through. As first-time users, we decided to book a holiday home through the Airbnb mobile app. Little did we know, this decision would lead us into a scam that left us feeling utterly betrayed and vulnerable. The scam was elaborate. The fraudulent holiday home appeared on the mobile app, complete with contact information and instructions to inquire about availability. When we reached out, the so-called host allegedly sent us a convincing confirmation from what appeared to be Airbnb, complete with logos and payment details. Even a chat feature was available, which we used to clarify some doubts. It all seemed so professional and legitimate. It wasn't until five days later, when we received an email from Airbnb, that we realized we had been compromised. The shock and disbelief were overwhelming. We reached out to Airbnb with evidence of the scam, only to be met with denial and a complete lack of accountability. It was disheartening to see a company we had trusted so blindly distancing themselves from this ordeal, despite having some knowledge about it. This experience has left me deeply concerned not only about Airbnb's mobile app but also about the security measures in place on their website. I strongly urged Airbnb to take down their mobile app until they can ensure that proper instructions are in place, and the app's security is significantly strengthened.
