Booked a cottage for a household reunion solely to be instructed 3 weeks earlier than the journey that the cottage had been double booked and requested if we wished to vary dates, e book an alternate cottage or have a refund. No apology. Requested for various cottages for a similar dates - no reply over electronic mail or messages. After several phone calls, I finally connected with a manager who explained that my payment had been misplaced during year-end processing. Despite my frustration, their manager handled the situation with genuine care and understanding. Regrettably, I requested a cancellation and a full refund. Once I rang Character Cottages to search out out what was occurring, no one might give me a solution. Frustrated with the slow response, we tried again 24 hours later, only to decide against having an engineer come out due to our limited remaining time at the cottage. With no functioning oven, we had to improvise and rely solely on the hob for our meals, which was far from the self-catering experience we had envisioned.
