I bought a t-shirt in the sale, and had to pay £7.50 to have it shipped to me. This seemed very steep (especially compared to other e-commerce platforms), but I paid it. The t-shirt arrived and was the wrong size, so I emailed customer service to ask if I could return it. When they finally replied over a week later, I was informed that I would have to pay to send the t-shirt back. Again, this experience falls significantly short of other online retailers, that would include free returns labels as standard. So I walked to the Gieves & Hawkes shop in Savile Row—a round trip of two hours—and asked if I could return the t-shirt there. They told me I could not return it in person "because of covid" (?!), and that the only course of action was to return it online. So I again complained to customer service, asking them to give me a free returns label, given I had paid a huge premium to have a small item shipped to me, and given the extent I had gone to to try to return it in person. I even pointed out that I was an existing customer who had bought suits from them in the past and who was planning to do so again, in the hope that they would feel my ongoing custom was worth the cost a returns label (approximately £2). They simply did not reply. So, in short, I would not recommend buying from them online—customer service is useless, and it's a ripoff, because postage charges are astronomical and do not include free returns labels.
