I recently had the opportunity to stay at Gite Les Petit Mas in Grillon, France, and my experience was truly unique. The cozy space may have been small, but it was equipped with all the essentials, including air conditioning, a dishwasher, and a washing machine. The cleanliness and overall presentation of the Gite immediately caught my attention upon arrival. The surrounding garden and pool were impeccably maintained, although the constant upkeep did require regular attention from the owner. The peaceful atmosphere was, at times, disrupted by the neighboring maintenance activities. However, the beauty of the adjacent vineyard offered a picturesque backdrop, despite the occasional inconveniences. While the Gite's small kitchen presented some challenges, the real disappointment stemmed from the lack of assistance from the owner when my spouse needed urgent medical attention. Despite our inquiries, the language barrier and the owner's unavailability left us feeling helpless. Additionally, the lack of response and abrupt departure at the end of our stay left a sour taste in our mouths. Our attempt to leave a review on Gites.nl was met with resistance from the owner, who not only refused to publish it but also responded to us in an unprofessional and disrespectful manner. Despite this, the team at Gites.nl was understanding and supportive, promising to address the owner's behavior. Although our review may not find a home on Gites.nl, I am determined to share my experience elsewhere. The lack of transparency and professionalism from the owner should not overshadow the potential for a delightful stay at Gite Les Petit Mas.

The lack of insulation made it cold and uncomfortable, even with the promise of electric heaters and a wood-burning stove, for which we were charged extra. Upon arrival, we were greeted by an infestation of flies and were told to buy firewood ourselves, despite the agreement with the owners. To make matters worse, the electric heaters barely provided any warmth, the wifi constantly malfunctioned, and we were charged exorbitant electricity fees after our stay. The infrared sauna, which was a selling point for us, was hidden away in a locked cellar and the upper floor of the house was inaccessible. Despite our efforts to address these issues with the rental platform, Gites.nl, and the property owners, our concerns were dismissed. Our negative review of the property was ignored, and Gites.nl claimed they were not responsible for ensuring honest and transparent reviews. This entire experience has left me deeply disappointed in both the rental property and Gites.nl. If only we had been provided with accurate information, we would never have chosen to stay there. Despite inquiring about heating prior to booking, the landlords assured us of electric heaters and a wood-burning stove, with the option to purchase firewood for an additional fee. However, just before our departure, they casually advised us to bring warm clothing and slippers, and even suggested buying firewood from a Dutch hardware store to bring to France.
