Instead of promptly addressing the issue, the Chartres branch of Havas acted as a mere messenger for the subcontracted travel agency (Boomerang), insisting that our cleanliness standards were unrealistic. Furthermore, the infested hotel did not align with the superior category we had paid for. It's disheartening that Havas Voyages failed to uphold their end of the contract, disregarding both the agreed-upon standards and basic decency. Extension Amazonie : aucun respect du programme
I recently embarked on the Impression du Pérou avec Extension Amazonie with Havas Voyages, specifically for the Amazon extension. My excitement quickly turned to disappointment as the Amazonie portion of the trip did not live up to expectations. The scheduled visits to campements and landmarks were replaced with underwhelming alternatives, and the response from Havas that these changes were acceptable was disheartening. The experience fell short in several ways. For instance, the visit to the campement de caoutchouc was replaced by a 2-hour walk to a small pond to see just a baby caiman. Similarly, the camp de castaneros was substituted with a walk to see a few monkeys on an island. The absence of the perroquets de la Collpa and the replacement with a visit to the Puerto Maldonado market was also disappointing, as the market visits were already part of the main circuit. Additionally, the promised Chacra visit and Machiguenga family meal were exchanged for an awkward visit to a very poor and uncomfortable farmer. Even the visit to lake Sandoval had to be requested as it was not initially included in the lodge's plans. Finally, a 4-hour walk to see a distant view of caimans and birds left me feeling very let down. While the rest of the tour was enjoyable, the letdown of the Amazon extension overshadowed the experience. In the future, I would recommend seeking out another, more reliable travel agency for a similar and hopefully more fulfilling experience. J
