Unforgettable Experience with National Car Rental: Buyer Beware!

My sincere advice to anyone considering renting a car from National or Alamo at the Savannah airport: be extremely cautious. My initial quote for a month's rental was $1500 from nationalcar.com, but I was ultimately charged $1900. Despite assurances that the extra $400 would be credited back to me upon returning the vehicle, my attempts to reclaim it have been met with frustrating resistance. The initial promise of a lower cost, followed by a higher charge and unfulfilled assurances, left me deeply disappointed. This experience has made me hesitant to trust their pricing and customer service commitments in the future. While the car itself was suitable, the misleading pricing and unfulfilled promises overshadowed any convenience. It's essential that customers are provided with transparent and reliable service, and my experience fell short of these expectations. My hope is that this review serves as a cautionary tale for anyone considering National or Alamo for their car rental needs. Transparency and integrity are non-negotiable in any business transaction, and regrettably, my experience did not reflect these principles.

My review for nationalcar.com Be very wary when you rent a car from National or Alamo at the Savannah airport. I was told the cost to rent a vehicle for a month would be $1500. When they charged me $1900. they assured me I would get the $400 credit back to me when I returned the car. Well I have called, emailed numerous times and now they say it costs $1900. BUYER BEWARE!!!!

From the start, I was impressed by the customer service, particularly when I requested an employee to inspect the car for damages upon rental. They willingly stepped out of the booth and carefully assessed the vehicle, ensuring any existing damage was duly noted. Upon returning the car, I received the same level of attentive service. The attendant took the time to thoroughly inspect the vehicle, giving me peace of mind that any pre-existing damages were properly recorded. I was astounded by the honesty and professionalism of the staff, which is why I was taken aback when I received an unexpected $1300 bill a few days later. My review for nationalcar.com DO Not rent a car from this rental company I rented a car when driving out thru the booth i asked the employee to look around the car she refused to get off her seat or get out of the booth to look around the car. neve put in the computer the damage on the car When dropping off I asked the attendant the same are you coming out to see the car she said no she refused and said will check it in later. I received a bill for $1300.00 a few days later that I did not do. I drove the car 2 hours and dropped off. What a scam

Worst Customer Service

"I had the most delightful experience with nationalcar.com in Antalya! From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive. I had reserved an SUV, and to my surprise, the car was even more spacious and comfortable than I had anticipated. The rental process was seamless, and I was ready to hit the road in no time. What stood out the most was the exceptional customer service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that my rental experience was nothing short of perfect. It was evident that they truly cared about providing top-notch service. To top it off, when I returned the car, I realized that I had left a pair of sunglasses in the vehicle. Worst Customer Service

My review for nationalcar.com We had the worst attitude and customer service in Antalya with National Car rental!! First of all we ordered a suv and the suv they offered was smaller than a car. Then they offered us a car with 129$ extra charge daily!!!my husband has an emerald statue in National! When we compare the customer service in America, the staff Ahmet told us “ this is not America, this is Turkey, we don’t operate the same! After we dropped off the car, my son forgot his Ray Ban sunglasses in the car when went back the next morning they said they don’t have which we clearly know where left it! We tried to reach the corporate office in Istanbul but couldn’t reach anyone!! We will never rent from National in Turkey again and will tell all our friends about our experience!!

National screwed me in Japan

Exceptional Service in Japan with Toco Car Rental I had an exceptional experience with Toco Car Rental in Hokkaido, Japan. After a booking mishap with another car rental company, I found myself stranded with no vehicle upon my delayed arrival. Nationalcar.com, whom I've previously trusted, was unable to accommodate my changed schedule. To my rescue came Toco Car Rental, where their team went above and beyond to provide me with a van for the duration of my stay. Upon discovering that my flight had been rescheduled, I immediately reached out to National, only to be informed that no vehicles were available for my adjusted arrival date. National screwed me in Japan

My review for nationalcar.com I had a reservation for a van for 2 weeks in Hokkaido Japan. My flight changed and I was due to arrive a day later. I called National to ensure it was OK, and they said they had no cars available. Incomprehensible that if I arrived a day late, there were no cars. I used to love National, but they abandoned me in Japan. I rented from Toco and they took care of me.

Do not rent from them! Scammers

I recently had the unfortunate experience of renting a car from National Car Rental at Billy Bishop Airport. On the second day of my rental, the car developed a strange noise, prompting me to reach out to their customer service. With a toddler and a pregnant wife in tow, I expressed my concern for our safety and was advised to drive the car to Pearson Airport for a replacement instead of waiting for a tow truck, despite the potential risk. Following the exchange, I was shocked to receive an email weeks later, claiming I owed an exorbitant amount for damages to the car, specifically citing issues with the catalytic converter and oxygen sensors. I staunchly maintained that I had not caused any damage during my limited usage of the vehicle, and further explained that the issues were likely due to poor maintenance on National's part. I cannot begin to express my frustration with the entire ordeal. Not only did I endure immense stress and inconvenience during what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation, but I was now being held financially responsible for problems that were clearly not of my making. I implore anyone considering renting from National Car Rental to think twice. The lack of accountability and disregard for customer safety is simply unacceptable. Spare yourself the trouble and seek a more reputable car rental service. It's regrettable that I had to learn this lesson the hard way.

Do not rent from them! Scammers

My review for nationalcar.com On Nov 10th, 2022 I rented a car from Nationa car rental at Billy Bishop airport. On Nov 12th at night, the car made a weird noise. I barely drove it anywhere, it probably had 35 miles on it from the moment I took it. So I called enterprise the morning of the 13th and they said to drop it off at Pearson airport as there was no other cars to exchange it for at Billy Bishop. I told them the car seemed to make noise and the representative said if it moves then it would be faster an easier to just drive it to Pearson and get a replacement car then wait for a towing truck. So I drove it to Pearson and received another car. Keep in mind I had a toddler with me this entire time and my pregnant wife, and I told the representative that it may not be safe as I have a child with me. He didn’t say anything except to just drop it off and to get another car. I told the desk that the car had some mechanical issue and I have nothing to do with it. I did not get an accident and the car was mostly parked. On Nov 17th I received an email from Damage Recovery. They requested information on the damage. I sent 3 emails explaining what happened exactly. All emails explained that the car did not get in an accident and it was parked 85% of the time and was used very lightly. I received No response. On Dec 10th I received an email stating that I owe $1904.02 for the following damages a catalytic converter, an oxygen sensor bank upstream and downstream. First of all catalytic converters are damaged due excessive clogging. Meaning it doesn’t go bad suddenly in one day, so I wasn’t the one who caused the excessive clogging, this is due to National not maintaining their cars. Second of all oxygen sensor banks are damaged by excessive byproducts of combustion. Meaning i couldn’t have damaged the sensor in one day by driving less than 40 miles. It absolutely makes no sense! It’s such a shame that these mechanical issues could have been avoided by the maintenance, because not only did they cause me great inconvenience by having to replace a car in the middle of my vacation but having to put my toddler and my pregnant wife in a car that was very unsafe to drive just because it was inconvenient for them to tow it and replace it. And now they bill me for their incompetence of maintaining their cars! I should be refunded for the inconvenience and stress I had to go through! Unbelievable do not rent from them!!!!

I have been a loyal elite member of National for many years, and I have mostly had wonderful experiences with their service. However, during my recent three-month car rental in Dublin, Ireland, I encountered a minor issue that left me slightly frustrated. National's partner, Enterprise, processed the rental and charged my credit card for the first month and then for the second month in advance, as per their monthly billing cycle. The issue arose when I requested a receipt for these charges, which had already been posted to my credit card. Surprisingly, I was informed that I would only receive the receipt upon returning the car in December. This seemed quite perplexing to me, as the payment had already been processed and posted, yet I was unable to obtain a receipt at that time.
