  • Huge selection of high-quality clothes from popular brands.
  • Easy-to-navigate website and mobile app.
  • Affordable prices with discounts and promotions offered regularly.

ThredUP offers a seamless user experience with its user-friendly website and mobile app. Buyers can easily filter their searches by category, size, brand, and price range to find the perfect item. The platform also offers personalized recommendations based on search history and preferences, making the shopping experience more enjoyable.

Pricing and Value for Money

ThredUP offers affordable prices for second-hand clothing, with items ranging from $5 to $500. The platform offers discounts and promotions regularly, making the deals even more enticing. However, shipping costs can add up, especially for buyers who do not meet the minimum threshold of $79 for free shipping.

Alternatives

Alternative platforms for second-hand clothing include Poshmark, Depop, and Mercari, among others. However, ThredUP stands out with its huge selection of high-quality clothing items from popular brands.

Customer Service

ThredUP offers customer service support via email, chat, and phone. The platform also has a comprehensive FAQ section that covers common questions and concerns. However, some buyers report slow response times, especially during peak seasons.

Product Quality and Selection

Returns and Exchanges

ThredUP has a strict return policy, with a non-refundable shipping fee of $8.99 for returns or exchanges. Items must be returned within 14 days, and the original packaging and tags must be intact. However, buyers can opt for store credit, which waives the non-refundable shipping fee.

Promotions and Discounts

ThredUP offers discounts and promotions regularly, making the already affordable items even more enticing. The platform also offers referral bonuses and loyalty programs for frequent buyers.

Reputation

ThredUP has a positive reputation in the second-hand clothing industry, with a large community of loyal buyers and sellers. The company has also received positive reviews from reputable sources such as Forbes and NBC News.

Community Involvement

ThredUP is committed to sustainability and actively promotes ethical and sustainable fashion. The platform also partners with various charities and nonprofit organizations to donate unsold items.

Shipping and Costs

ThredUP offers free shipping for orders above $79, with a flat rate of $5.99 for orders below that threshold. However, the platform also offers expedited and international shipping for additional fees. In conclusion, ThredUP offers a convenient and affordable way to shop for sustainable fashion. With its huge selection of high-quality clothing items from popular brands, easy-to-navigate website, and personalized recommendations, the platform provides an enjoyable shopping experience for buyers. Review Description: My first time selling with ThredUp will be my last. I sent in a brand new dress (big brand) I'd bought and just never worn and they didn't list it. Which means I lost it forever. When I finally got a hold of someone (try Instagram) they told me it had been stained and torn. That's patently false — I had never worn the dress outside a dressing room. You have no ability to argue, you lose your goods. Who knows what happened to that item. I genuinely cannot stress this enough: Only send things you were planning to donate or give away.

Review Description: I sent 2 clean out kits which took around 9 months to process. The payout of some of the items makes no sense. I sent a brand new with tags dress from Bohme and the payout will be $4. It appears that clean out kits now cost $15 for the person consigning. That’s about what I made from the kits I sent in. I don’t intend to use them anymore.

Review Description: Thredup has come a long way with their website, it's very user friendly. As far as their practices go, I really want to love them but I just can't. The description of their clothing, especially of the condition they are in, is unreliable. The restocking fee for retuned items has now been increased to $3.99, so returns are still easy but it's going to cost you. Additionally, I never purchase items listed as Final Sale, in case I need to return something, yet somehow everything from my last order is listed as Final Sale. Really?!

Review Description: I had a bad experience with Thredup as a consignor. I used to be able to just cash out the items that they sell for me through PayPal but now they made it so that you have to get a partner gift card and this last payout with the partner gift card I never received. Customer service is the worst you can never get a hold of anyone online or by phone. I will never do anymore business with this company or recommend anyone to do business with them. It has been the most frustrating experience.

Review Description: About 9months from the time I shipped my cleanout to them to the time I sold an item. Deceiving timeline, just stick with Poshmark, faster and more profitable. A $150 Aritzia dress, like-new condition, I made $10.

Review Description: Second thing I ever ordered from them has a 3” very obvious rip. It’s a leather bag sold as “like new, few if any signs of wear”. To return it is a pain, I live in the middle of nowhere. I seriously detest being taken advantage of/lied to and this store has ample opportunity to do that to their customers. The first order was meh, I donated 2 out of the 4 things I ordered. I’ll never use them again. There are better ways to part with money than by buying sub-par thrift store items at 4 times the value.

Review Description: The absolute worse!!! They received my 2 clean out kits in August and the processing dates kept getting pushed back. First it was November then December then January now February. Trying to get a hold of customer service is near impossible. Don't even waste your energy using their "chat". No one responds. I was on hold for 2 hours before I gave up and closed the chat. I'm completely done with this company. I'd rather donate my clothes to a reputable charity knowing I'm helping someone in need than feeling like I got ripped off.

Review Description: This company has THE WORST customer service. They take months to process clean out bags and are completely nonresponsive to customer service requests. They received a bag of clothes from me in June with a process date of August. Instead it took until November without any explanation. Most recently a payout did not make it into my account and I could not get a response with any resolution for over two weeks. DO NOT work with this company.
